Cracked phone screen? What you need to know

A small crack can feel like something you can live with. Here's what's really going on, when it's urgent, and how we fix it at your home or workplace.

Is it safe to keep using a cracked screen?

For a short time, usually. But cracked glass can cut fingers, cracks spread with everyday knocks and temperature changes, and gaps in the glass let in dust and moisture. Put a screen protector or tape over sharp edges until it's fixed.

Signs it's more than the glass

If you see lines, black or purple patches, flickering, or parts of the screen don't respond to touch, the display underneath is damaged too. The whole screen needs replacing, not just the glass.

LCD and OLED screens

Older and budget phones often have LCD screens, while most newer iPhones and Samsungs have OLED or AMOLED screens. OLED screens look better but cost more to replace. For many models we offer a choice of parts at different prices, and we'll explain the difference before we start.

How our screen repair works

We come to you, confirm the price, and replace the screen on the spot, usually in around 30 minutes. We fit new adhesive seals, transfer parts like the earpiece and sensors, and test everything with you before we leave. Your photos and data aren't touched. See our screen repair service.

Quick answers

Can you just replace the glass?

On most modern phones the glass and display are bonded together, so the whole screen is replaced as one part. That gives the best result.

How long does a screen repair take?

Most take around 30 minutes at your door.
