How to back up your phone before a repair

Screen, battery and charging repairs don't touch your data, but a backup is always a good idea. It takes a few minutes.

iPhone: back up to iCloud

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings › your name › iCloud › iCloud Backup.
  3. Tap Back Up Now and wait for it to finish.

iPhone: back up to a computer

Connect your iPhone to a Mac (use Finder) or a Windows PC (use the Apple Devices app or iTunes), select your iPhone and choose Back Up Now.

Samsung and Android

Most Android phones back up to your Google account under Settings › Google › Backup, though the exact menu names vary. Samsung phones can also back up with Samsung Cloud or the Smart Switch app on a computer.

If your screen is broken

If you can't see or use the screen, don't worry. Screen repairs don't affect your data, and you can back up once it's fixed.

What to have ready

  • Your passcode, so we can test the phone with you after the repair
  • Your charger, if you'd like us to check it
  • Any case or screen protector you want refitted
